This Autism Acceptance Month, we are asking MPs to Show Up for autistic people by attending an Understanding Autism Session.
For many autistic people, discrimination, misunderstanding and negative reactions are a part of everyday life.
- More than half of autistic people avoid going out because they are worried about how they will be treated.
- A quarter say they usually get a negative reaction when they tell a member of the public, they are autistic.
There are also barriers when it comes to political engagement.
- Half of autistic people said meeting with an MP, councillor or other politician is difficult or not possible for them.
- Almost half of autistic people say there are less opportunities for them to get involved in politics and campaigning because they are autistic
Autistic people deserve to be heard and understood, we need every MP to recognise the reality of autistic people's experiences and how they can help.
With your support, we can reach as many MPs as possible and show them how much this matters. Will you send your MP an email and ask them to Show Up for autistic people?
Please complete as many of the fields below as you can with your details. Those marked * are mandatory. After pressing submit, you will be able to see and edit the email invitation before sending it to your MP.
